~Weekend Getaway~

Ahhh – the weekend is over! We went for our weekend getaway (as its also our mini holiday) away from puters, work and Charleston!!  Its so nice to visit another place that you’ve never been and this place wins!! We didn’t want to come back at all! We would have been just happy camper being a beach bum – great people and lovely place!  This place is called Oak Island, North Carolina – its just above Myrtle Beach and its just about 1 hr away from there!

Now, we left after – packed and set out to be there by 9pm as dinner was waiting for us, our friend Ina was cooking us filet mignon steaks with veggies and salad!  So we were hungry when we got there of course, as our trip embarked we ran into traffic on Hwy 17!  It was a stalled car that a fire dept helped her move out of the way!  That slowed our time and of course we had to make a stop at Wally word to get some beer to bring.  We finally made it over after trying to find the house – we all sat for that wonderful steak dinner and drank a bit of wine/beer and chatted the night away!

The next day we played it by ear and went to the beach later than afternoon – Ina made us breakfast of omelet and just run around the town seeing all the new places, we even visited the new Irish pub just opened – Ian and Donald had Guinness and Ina had a glass of wine, I had my shandy – and of course we all had 2 rounds of “Irish Car Bomb” – then went to the beach and saw a beautiful sunset!

We all went to Thai By The Sea – we had each an appy and beer – I had the Pad Eww – similar like Pad Thai and Ian had the Basil beef – our friends Ina and Donald had dessert – Coconut cake – which was to die for!!  It was soooooooo good!

We truly had a great weekend and we are hoping to go back soon!
